I got a prototype made today, mainly because I wanted to be able to swap scopes with other rifles and the Lithgow mounts are a bit close together compared to the spacing on everything else I have. The rail in the pictures has a 20 MOA cant which should get the 22 out to 200+ metres for a bit of fun. I'm going to offer these in LH and RH, flat and 20 MOA. It has a cutout so it doesn't interfere with ejection or single loading.

There will be a couple of changes fron the one in the photos, the front will have a rib under it where it runs out past the action and each end will be a couple of mm longer so the rings don't hang over if they're in the end slots. It uses the original M4 screws as well. Price will be around the $100 mark and they're a few weeks away at the moment. The production ones will be black anodised.

Before anyone mentions it, yes, it may be a touch over-scoped

Nice work Greg. Did you encounter an problem with the standard Lithgow mounts or did you just want your own personal touch?

The standard mounts are picatinny spacing but aren't spaced far enough apart to swap a scope from a normal 6" picatinny rail. I also wanted some cant on the rail so I don't need to dial as much elevation on the scope for longer ranges. A 22 with subs drops a lot further at 200m than my scope had adjustment for.

Very tempting. On the one hand $100 is a lot for me. On the other, it is possibly my favorite rifle.

How does next week sound for the rails? I've got material sitting here, it just took a lot longer to get the new machine sorted than I planned. I'm in the workshop over the weekend and have all the programs done for them. Are you after flat or 20 MOA?

These are sitting on my desk now, very impressed! I'll mount the 20MOA on my laminated rifle this weekend (NXS3.5-15x50), I'll pick up my synthetic next Thursday and set it up with the straight mount (3-12x40 Pride Fowler with FFP and ballistic reticle) then.
Great detail and well finished, thanks Greg!

Now i just need a chassis..........hint hint. B)
