Evening, went out to practice ranging with an Bushnell Elete Tactical ERS 6x24 -50 ffp scope this arfternoon.

Working at higher magnification above about 16, some of the subtensions disappeared on the outer limits of the lower horizontal cross hair.

Is this normal?

for a ffp (first focal plane scope it is. as you zoom, the reticle enlarges so that the subtensions remain consistent at any zoom level. alternatively a SFP (second focal plane) scope the reticle subtensions are only correct at a single zoom level.

Well aware of that. You miss understood what I am asking.. as the scope zooms up to higher power the outer subtensions disapear out of view, on the bottom of the vertical cross hair only.

You lose use of the mil dots at the bottom of the reticle. The horizontal and upper vertical subtension all stay in view.

My 1st thought is that the parallax is not set correctly for that.magnification OR its could be the.ocular focus.

A picture tells 1000 words ;)

I would say that is normal for that FFP scope.
If you look at that reticle on the Bushnell site the bottom vertical reticle bar is lower than the top(or shorter) & the top bar is shorter than the side bars, I would say to give you more allowance for vertical hold over & drop.

As your reticle enlarges due to being FFP the bottom bar being shorter as it shows almost disappears.

Imo this is part of the design.

Be interesting to see what other owners have to say!

If you fail to get a satisfactory answer I would be emailing Bushnell.

I would think that is normal in a first focal plane scope with that reticle.

I reckon it is the function of that particular scope... The function kinda makes sense to me why it’s in place.

Perfectly normal for a FFFP scope, it happens in the old Pecars and Kahles variables but you don't realize it because in those old reticles the heavy posts look the same but they do shorten as the power increases.
