So I found a left handed Savage .223 with a 6-24 scope and only a few hundred rounds through it on used guns, and ended up getting it. After waiting a week, it arrived on Monday, then I couldn't get out to the range till today (Little River). After not even hitting the paper at first (scope was out about half an hour of angle up and left haha) this was my last 5 shots of the day. That flyer is a shame, but still pretty happy. Considering it was my first time shooting it, factory ammo and not completed sighted in ;) ;)

What a bonus, with factory ammo too.

If you were to reload who knows if it would get much better or be the same,
one thing for sure is its worth the wait. ;)

You should be pleased. Your groups will shrink with hand loading, you just have to find the right recipe.
By the way, groups are measured center to center not edge to edge.

If you can stay calm, while all around you is chaos...then you probably
haven't completely understood the situation.

Fantastic. Unless you are a reloading nut, don't worry about reloading. Just keep practising in field positions and you will be right to go! Well done!

Thanks Gents!! Will take your advice and stick with factory loads for the minute. Thank God these weren't anything super exotic, just some Hornady Steel match I bought from the Range. That might explain the flyer though...

Nev Cross - Cheers for that! When I measure centre to centre, it's closer to half an inch!! .518 to be exact :D

You need to be measuring center to centrer
i.e..
don't measure outside to outside

your group it about 2/3 of what you have there.
looks even better that way.

How good is that ?!

The 55grn group like a tennis ball-ish for me at 100m, I put that down to my scope (blames tools) but thats also off hand,
I bought a case of 55's and a case of 75's Steel Match, when there wasnt an issue with transport, then I was given
a box of 50x 308 Steel Match to try. Now they are well made in my opinion.

I dont think they are too bad as a product, goats dont like them apparently.

Yeah will be interesting to see how my group changes off hand, this was off a bag today. But with these results I reckon a case of Steel match would be worth it for me haha :D
