Send-it created the topic: The non-populars / wildcats / & others not yet mentioned.
As we now have a great data base of all the popular & common cartridges, i thought there's room for a thread containing reloading data of cartridges that are either uncommon, or wildcats, or others not yet mentioned.
such as target cartridges & uncommon hunting cartridges etc.

I'll kick off with a benchrest/target cartridge of mine.

22-PPC

case origins = 220 'Russian' case that is blown out to this size.
(holds about 3gr more than a common 223 case.).

my benchrest load.
case = Lapua (220 Russian fire formed).
primer = cci br2 small rifle.
powder = BM-2
charge = 26.5gr (with sierra 52gr bthp)
charge = 27gr (with speer 50gr tnt).
COAL = 57mm.
accuracy = on a good day about 0.2 to 0.3 MOA. @ 100m.

my varmint load.
case = Lapua (220 Russian fire formed).
primer = cci br2 small rifle.
powder = BM-2
charge = 29.5gr (with hornady 40gr vmax)
COAL = 55mm.
accuracy = approx 0.3 MOA. @ 100m.
terminal performance = devastating on small game, from rabbits up to foxes & dogs

what other cartridges are out there among the members that could fit in this thread of 'uncommon' cartridges?

OK so I didnt think 6mm PPC was so wildcat or non-popular but hell theres a 7.62 x 39 here so here goes!

The 6mm PPC case has to be built up the same as Send -Its 22 PPC so starts with the 220 Russian but then gets necked (stretched out) to 6mm and then the neck walls are thicknessed and then fire formed with a number of methods. My case neck walls are .262 but there are other options thrown around.
Cases are weighed and batched prior then again after to ensure consistency.

case = Lapua (220 Russian fire formed).
primer = Federal match
powder = Vihtavouri N11
charge = 30.0gn heavy barrel
charge = 29.3gn light barrel
proj = 69gn ISP these are a thin j4 jacket that kinda remind me of the old copper bell projectiles
COAL = 1.67" from memory but heavy and light I run a different seating depth.
accuracy = as good as you are basically

I really probably averaged .3 inch groups at best when shooting comp at 100m I had a couple of cracker groups that stood out but the real winners were shooters who lived it and some still do.

The 6mm PPC is or at least was the most accurate cartridge out to 300m and the variation on loads and seating depths etc are yours to choose.

Terminal performance - umm with these these light jackets any thinner skinned game is toast, heavier skin well see what happens.

Norma and Sako sell 6mm PPC brass already formed and it works a treat.

For critters like goats, small-medium pigs and Fallow deer the 80gn Speer Deep-Curl is the go to bullet. It is usually found piled up under the skin on the off side in a nice consistent mushroom.

This little Ruger Ranch is proving a bucket of fun. Almost cheap fun too!

7.62x39

case = Lapua
primer = Federal LR
powder = AR2207
charge = 28.0
proj= The Bullet Factory 130gn Hollow Points (.308)
COAL = 2.285 This is ~25 thou from the lands. The Mini 30 mag is FULL.
accuracy = approx .6moa thereabouts
As yet untested, but probably better than the previous load. Its starting to zing along, but Im out of case capacity

1. 2432
2. 2441
3. 2426
4. 2439
5. 2419

avg 2431.4 FPS
SD 9.13
Spread 22

The Spread and SD are so close to the other load with the Speer 130 grainers that were loaded to SAAMI length.I seated out further on this load for capacity reasons. This load was shot with an M4-72 brake attached unlike the previous one.

My contribution to the unusual is the little 270/3000 sporter built on an Arisaka action. 32.5gns of 2208 sends a 120gn bullet at 2760 and is great to shoot. 110gn Hornady HP's with the same load are prime cat medicine!

Hold still varmint, whilst I plugs ya!

375 whisper ( necked up 7mm BR )

Slightly better performance to the old 375 Winchester lever action round with 1/2 the recoil.

(The 375 whisper next to the 300 blkout )

Good little short range scrub round. ( chasing pigs n deer )

( my home made 200 grain HP bullet from cut down .223 cases )

16” barrel

Super sonic:
29.8 grains of 2205 for the 225 Hornady SP 2150 avg fps. Hits like a brick, makes a hell of a thud. Puts them down hard.

Subsonic:
14 grains of 2205 for the 300 grain Sierra game kings avg fps 1050 fps.

Shot a featherweight Weatherby vanguard in 338-378, after about 10 rounds prone I was done.

Standing and kneeling wasn’t bad. But prone was brutal.

7.62x39

case = PPU fired, FLS to bump ~.0015/.002 Not yet 'snug' but getting a bit close for field.
primer = Federal LR
powder = AR2207
charge = 29.2
proj= The Bullet Factory 130gn Hollow Points (.308)
COAL = 2.295 about
accuracy = approx 1.2 inches @ 100m but 2.0 at 200m
As yet untested, but probably better than the previous load. Its starting to zing along, but Im out of case capacity

1. 2526
2. 2525
3. 2538

5. error ( it was a flyer anyway)

avg 2529.75 FPS
SD 5.91
Spread 13

I shot this one a couple of times at 100m and then at 200m . It shoots about 1.2" groups at 100, but at 200m they are dead on 2.00" Why is that? Got me stumped. Im gonna shoot it again today just to see if its a fluke.
