Hey all, I'm about to pick up my new sportco m44 7.62, and have bought myself a lee classic loader and scales and was wondering what the general consensus was as to what I should load it with.

It will be used primarily on the range up to a max of 500m.

Was thinking 2208 and something 168gr ish?

Open to ideas, thanks.

do you want to do f-class?
if you do you'll have to use 155gr.
You can read what you want.
but at the end of the day, ...........there's just no substitute........for live fire training.

Depending on your barrel twist rate you could do worse than try the Hornady Steel match 150 grn ? 155 not sure now..
Cheap as last time I bought some and while its not as fast as some its hellish accurate for a factory round.
It may have Siera projectiles dunno now but it was a pleasant surprise how well it went out to 500 yds but drops a fair bit at 900.
For then $52.00 for 50 who cares.
The next best thing is the SSAA Winchester Palma match in 155 grn --- I have seen some old blokes test charts where they claim they can`t load any better.
It`s around $30 - a bit for 20 at the SARA store in Adelaide if you can get there.

What I am trying to do is emulate the Hornady Super performance factory loads of 150 grn SST .
Nearest I can get so far is the 150 grn Hornady SST projectiles over 45.7 of 2208 but its a work in progress and as a re loader I am a green horn and I don`t have the funds or time to develop a decent load but those buggers do shoot well from an Omark at all ranges flatter than most and cost like it too $40 + a box of 20 is hard to justify.
For hunting ferals I have yet to find better

sierra
nosler
berger
Lapua
hornady
plus a couple of others I cant remember.
unless you do f-open, which means you can use different weights.
not that I know a lot about f-class at the moment.
You can read what you want.

I like the noslers because they are cheap. 44.4 grains of 2206h powder with a rem LR primer set to book length. Makes for a nice accurate round I use em out to 600.
Keep calm and.........Squeeze
