Looking for a good pair of binoculars for various purposes.
LR glassing before moving to scope.
Watching wildlife in the down time.
Perving- joking, we have the internet for that now.
Anyone had experience with Vortex HD binoculars in either 10-42 or 10-50, or Leica binoculars around the same power.
Had a nice pair of Leupold that were borrowed from me but never returned (never trust family with money or binoculars).
(Maximum budget 2K)
The problem of power is how to achieve its responsible use rather than its irresponsible and indulgent use - of how to get men of power to live for the public rather than off the public.

You should certainly make all effort to look through different binoculars, but for what you are after a set of 10x42 would be the best general purpose size. Keeping it under $2k takes the three Alpha brands out of contention, otherwise I would say look hard at the Swarovski, Leica and Zeiss.
At the $2k price point, look hard at the Meopta, Kahles and Kowa Genesis brands. All three are still a step above the mass-market American brands.
Our sponsor Magnum Sports has 10x42 Kahles Helias at a good price.
Adelaide Optical can hook you up with some stunning Kowa Genesis 10.5x44 at a fair price.
Most dealers who handle Winchester products can sort MeoStar B1 10x42 HD.
If you can wait until the SSAA SHOT Show in Sydney you should be able to look through all of these, and may be able to strike a surprisingly good deal on them at the show.
